texができない

tex

「platex」でコンパイル（？）しようとすると

This is pTeXk, Version 3.141592-p3.1.11 (euc) (Web2C 7.5.4)
 %&-line parsing enabled.

kpathsea: Running mktexfmt platex.fmt
tcfmgr: config file `tcfmgr.map' (usually in $TEXMFMAIN/texconfig) not found.
fmtutil: config file `fmtutil.cnf' not found.
I can't find the format file `platex.fmt'!

つって終わる．「latex」でのコンパイルでも同様．
tex関係は以前普通に使ってたときからいじってないんだけどなーなんでだろなー

「$TEXMFMAIN/texconfig」にはちゃんと「tcfmgr.map」あるのに．．．

$ kpsewhich -var-value TEXMFMAIN
/usr/share/texmf
$ ls /usr/share/texmf/texconfig
README  g  generic  tcfmgr  tcfmgr.map  v  x

今回はusualじゃないのか？
